Raptors at the Zoo

Two weeks ago the Zoo hosted a traveling Raptor exhibit. The boys and I went over to check it out and were very impressed. Brayden is a huge bird fan as many of you know. It has generally been expressed through his stuffed animals, but it appears he's equally fond of live feathered friends. Here are a few pictures he took (he used an entire memory chip!)

The Cheek Creep

Call it creep, croup, colds or whatever. I think when a cold mutates through 4 family members it get's a special spot and name in the "make you feel bad" Hall of fame. Struggling to get through a cold that turned into a fever that turned into runny noses and has now placed a firm grip on "dry cough". Amazing how difficult it is for everything to adapt to less than 150% humidity down here. We go below 100 and skin starts cracking, plants die, grass curls up and everyone walks around drinking water to stay hydrated. Doesn't help having a cold. Must have been those 3 days of "cold" weather....I know, tough life. Hopefully everybody will perk up and we'll have some new hockey videos to post this weekend.

Mr Jack Frost

Not sure how I feel about being friends with jack again.Pretty sure I'm not happy about it....If he kills any of my plants, I'll be very upset. Global Warming, huh?

Still no connection!

Can't quite get the Wii up and running for friend matches. Whenever Lauren and Mike find us, it kicks them off the WFC? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Showdown low-downs....

Couldn't quite get hooked up to challenge the Mario Masters of Chicago last night. The boys were genuinely disappointed the link didn't work and this morning, in his first scratchy throat voice, Alex wanted to know if Aunt Lauren ever got online. Brayden had a similar question as he awoke (an hour later....he's our sleeper). Not sure what it means, but kids' attention is at such a premium it's rarely held for more than a fleeting moment, let alone through the night. Usually onto the next thing. In this case, they were looking forward to the clash with Aunt Lauren and Uncle Mike with great anticipation. I think there will be serious battles on Sunday outside of the realm of the NFL. Stay tuned for Keach v. Squakasaur! The line has Keach favored by 15, but Squakasaur could easily provide the upset if they drive maple treeway or mushroom gorge. Stay tuned

Wednesday....Is that it

How it can only be Wednesday is far beyond my realm of understanding. Long...Long week as the family struggles to catch up with the reality of life again after the holidays. The boys are right back in the thick of it. Brayden goes to Hockey again tonight and remains excited about hitting the ice. Alex is biding time until soccer starts in February with some swimming lessons. Much like his father, he will likely see far more success in sports that don't require a great deal of hand eye coordination.
I'm back in the thick of work and managing through this crisis in real estate. Thank goodness the bank is sound and I am still employed. (check back tomorrow, just in case!), and staying very busy at the Zoo and with my newest endeavor of starting a kayak fishing tournament here in Melb...yes, I'm a glutton for punishment.
Jennifer is back at work and tonight finishes a marathon 3 on, 1 off, 4 on shift. You can only pull so many 12 hr shifts before you lose it.

On a side note, I finally took the advice of numerous friends and family to join facebook. You really should look into it. Fun for all ages and simple to use. You can catch up with friends from years and years ago in 10 minutes. What may be more fun is peeking in friends that you haven't thought of in 15 years just to see what's going on in their life.

That's it for the morning. Way behind on the morning routine.
